MEMSI 2022 (January 8-22, 2022) is a 14-day, intensive tech startup bootcamp for aspiring entrepreneurs who attend MIT or universities in Hong Kong. The hybrid program is designed for those who want to advance their skills in entrepreneurship, prototyping, product development and business modelling with fellow innovators across geographies.
We are recruiting students across broad fields of business, computer engineering, data analytics, UX/UI design and more, with a preference for Year 3 undergraduates and above (including postgraduate level, incoming or current Master’s students and PhD’s). You must be a current student pursuing a full-time degree bearing program at one of the UGC universities to be eligible.

Professors Joseph Sung, Helen Meng and Steve Yim were invited to give invited talks on 23 June 2020, for the Public Lecture Series entitled “Grand Challenges to Sustainability: Dialogues in a Time of Pandemic”, which was co-organized by CUHK and The Hong Kong Chapter of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN Hong Kong). The theme of their lectures was “Sustainability in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” Their lectures attracted over 200 participants, which was among the highest in the series.

Students from MIT and Hong Kong will get together and form teams. You will build a hardware startup in just two weeks. You will see how mass production is done in China. You will build prototypes with your own hands. You will build a business model that makes sense. And – you will pitch your startups to more than 100 people on Showcase Day.
You will discover weaknesses you never knew you had – and strengths that help you soar. And you will make lifelong friends, and become part of an international community.
We cover travel and program expenses. But let that not be the reason you apply.

Are you an aspiring entrepreneur? Curious about what it takes to build a startup based on a product with both hardware and software components? Want to learn how mass production works in China? Join us in Hong Kong for MEMSI!
MEMSI is a two-week long, fully immersive bootcamp for aspiring hardware system innovators from universities in Hong Kong and from MIT. We cover travel and program expenses!
In two action-packed weeks, students will:

Meet and work with like-minded innovators from several continents

See how mass production happens in real life via factory tours in China

Choose a customer problem to solve, create a solution, build a prototype, develop a business case, and present their venture to thought leaders, alumni and friends on Showcase Day
